It needs to be a true add-on; that is, it shouldn't increase the memory footprint of the running program when it is disabled.
@sgtaylor It won't, the AI features would not run unless you actively use them, so when they are turned off in the program, they won't have any effect on the memory footprint

If possible, it would be most helpful if a custom API endpoint could be selected. German universities (and businesses) have very strict privacy standards and sending data to third party services is often forbidden. Our university has a "sterilised" chatGPT service. Although I am not sure if sending email to that would be allowed, it has much higher chance than a server in the USA for example.
I second @jonas's suggestion. While I'm unsure what privacy standards might or might apply in my case, it's important to give end-users a choice of what endpoint they wish to use, so far as it is possible to do so. ChatGPT, for example, has different endpoints for free and paid services β and possibly there are more for specific applications, as @jonas mentioned β but people may prefer to use a different LLM altogether.
