Coming from Postbox, the rule invocation I miss is the 'On Archive' one so I could tag email on receive but move them with a rule to a specified folder when I 'archived' them.
The biggest drawback to Rules, apart from the difficulty of actually setting one up caused by the sequence sensitive procedure of creating one, is the fact that there is no way of manually running a Rule only against selected emails within a mailbox folder.
In my case I have about 10000 emails in one folder and when I want to periodically run a filter to delete emails then I have to wait for the whole mailbox folder to be processed. This is less than ideal when just a month or two of emails want to be processed.
So I would like the option to select emails within a mail folder and run a rule against just the selected emails.
Furthermore Rules only act on emails as they are received or sent. More options are needed when run manually as mentioned above something like the filters options shown here would be a starting point for discussion:
