I want this feature and also if the biometric fails please use a password DIFFERENT from the phone pin to open the app, so that someone who has your phone pin cannot also open your email.
Yes, its so important for me! Sometimes I lend my phone for example to the kids and I don't want them to get into my email app. That's why I want to have fingerprint access in the app.
I would like this feature as well for Android. In fact, I was quite surprised that a security feature was missing (PIN, biometrics, etc.) in the year 2024 where the need for cyber- security is at record highs. I have installed an Android app that provides fingerprint authentication for any app on the phone, but only for your initial entry to use the app. That provides a minor level of security for em Client for Android. But once the app is open and running, anyone can get into the app. Most mobile email clients for Android today provide multiple levels of security every time you go into to the app, and allow you to set a time, e.g. 15 mins., before the app "locks" again and requires a PIN, fingerprint, etc. to get back into the app. And then there is 2FA, hardware keys, passcodes, etc. which provide the ultimate level of protection for the email client. Indeed, some of these vital features are missing in your desktop apps as well. Thanks for considering adding security features to the mobile apps and stepping up the security option in the desktop apps. As a beta tester for Android, it would be wonderful that some of these features are added as security options in the next interim beta release.
Biometric authentication is so important for security. Malicious access to email can result in password resets and other major vulnerabilities being exposed. Anyone who has their phone lost or stolen knows that if email can be accessed then their entire online world is potentially at threat.
