Email notes can currently sync for Exchange accounts.
No other mail provider unfortunately supports the sync of notes at this time, but we are keeping on eye on this option and trying to find a workaround.
TB has a great add-on called TB Sync. The take away is you set up a couchdb which can be a little VM running. the database. It is a great solution that you should look at or at least give users the ability to setup themselves to implement. It could do tags as well as notes and that would be a huge win.

Credit to Klaus for implementing that solution. I am currently testing EMClient and I like a lot of it. Starts fast, clean interface, great search, these are the things that I value and I struggle with TB to use. If EMClient could even allow the setup as Klaus has implements I would be all in
