Support for IMAP with OAuth2 for Office 365 Accounts
In environments where Conditional Access policies restrict the use of Exchange Web Services (EWS), users of Office 365 with multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled are currently unable to connect their mailboxes in eM Client using the Outlook.com/Office 365/Exchange setup option. As a workaround, IMAP would normally be a viable alternative. However, eM Client does not currently offer OAuth2 authentication for IMAP connections, and since Microsoft has permanently disabled Basic Authentication for IMAP, such connections can no longer succeed. Other email clients, such as Thunderbird, already support IMAP with OAuth2 for Office 365 accounts, which allows secure and compliant access to mailboxes even under restricted conditions. Requested Feature: Please implement OAuth2 authentication support for IMAP in eM Client, enabling users to connect their Office 365 mailboxes securely in accordance with Microsoft’s modern authentication policies. Benefits: Allows organizations with Conditional Access restrictions to continue using eM Client Ensures compliance with Microsoft’s security standards Provides a secure, modern alternative to EWS for Office 365 users Thank you for considering this enhancement.
